Healty Eating

The Healthy Eating Guidelines suggest many helpful ways to change eating habits and take one step towards and healthier life, such as:

  • Eat 7-10 servings of vegetables and fruit each day;
  • Choose whole grains and high fibre foods more often;
  • Replace unhealthy fat with healthy fat;
  • Limit sodium and sugar intake;
  • Control portion size;
  • Ensure protein at all meals; and
  • Choose low fat dairy products.

Heart Patients

Research has shown that people of South Asian descent are at greater risk of developing heart disease and stroke and at a much earlier age compared with other ethnic groups. High blood pressure and diabetes among South Asians also contributes to a greater chance of heart disease in the community. The following document outlines some risk factors that can be controlled to prevent heart disease.
